CALLING ALL ARTISTS, STUDENTS & COMMUNITY MEMBERS!!!
Hue Studio is putting together Rainbow Mural Installation’s to bring hope to our community during this challenging time. Our Rainbow of Hope Mural will hang in Rockville Centre’s Village Hall… & our Rainbow of Thanks Mural will be donated to hang in Mercy Medical Center…
& we need YOUR help to make it!
200 families, & over 500 community members are participating in this project! Please share with your friends & neighbors!
During this scary & isolating time we need an artistic outlet & sense of hope more than ever!
Children all over the world have started putting hand painted rainbows in their windows as a sign of hope, & to start a scavenger hunt for families to find during walks around their neighborhoods. This has kept our connections to our neighbors fueled while we are isolated at home. I have heard this rainbow movement being called the Rainbow Connection, & I love it!
Rockville Centre’s sense of community is so strong!! I am honored to be a part of it. I am so moved by individuals selflessness & leadership in banding citizens together to make a difference in the lives impacted by this tragedy in SO many positive ways. It’s inspiring!
An awesome idea came to light to create an art installation to be hung somewhere, publicly in our town… The installation would be a rainbow of course, but what is special about it is that we will all make it, together (in the comfort of our own homes!) After speaking with Mayor Francis X. Murray, he agreed to hang our Rainbow of Hope mural in Village Hall!
With growing popularity, we started to run out of squares for our first mural. Everyone should be able to participate in this community project… so why stop at one? Next up? A Rainbow of Thanks Mural… & what better place to donate it than Mercy Medical Center.
Our deadline to drop off finished squares is now May 29th!
Each community member wanting to be involved, as well as Hue students & some local artists can request to receive a canvas square. Each square will be assigned a color & the tile will be filled in with patterns, designs, words, textures, collages…etc in ONLY the color assigned. We will be collecting all of the tiles no later than Monday, May 29th, & putting them together to create a gridded rainbow that will be installed & displayed in Village Hall & Mercy Medical Center.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Hue Studio has teamed up with artist and philanthropist Michelle James Wettstein to form, organize & fund this awesome project & we are SO grateful!
Michelle organized & runs a facebook group "Support For Local Business and Frontline Workers" that is bringing our community together during this challenging time to help local businesses, while simultaneously supporting the frontline. We are so lucky to be working with her & her group!
If you are not a part of her group, you should be! Join here!
These ever-growing rainbows are expected to be 5 feet tall & 9 feet wide & made up entirely of hundreds of little 4x4 canvas squares. Each square will be labeled on the back with a color. We are asking YOU artists to create a piece of art entirely in that color to cover the canvas.... but we don’t want any canvases JUST filled in with a color. Be Creative! Make patterns, textures, pictures, collage it, sculpt it, make it 3D!
We want each square to be as special & different as YOU are!
On our rainbow of hope & rainbow of thanks, we also want everyone to write a note on the back! Write what you hope to come of all of this, what you learned, what you miss the most, how you’re feeling, what your grateful for, say thank you to some of the amazing people keeping us safe.
This project is for all ages to create hope in our community & work together from afar.
